I entered the field of psychology from a need to understand my “wounded” self, and I also wanted to help others. In my mid-twenties, I sought personal therapy for anxiety, depression, and panic. I was also educating myself and in training to deepen my skills as a psychotherapist. I was employed in various hospitals and clinics.
I thought that perhaps the rigor of a Master’s degree would free me from the anxiety, burnout, anguish, and body pain that were constant companions. My hope diminshed when it didn't.
Academic pursuits weren't the answer to my problems, neither was understanding. Talking and thinking were not an effective healing approach, at least, not for me. The truth is, I was at a loss. Many told me "You will just have to learn to live with it."
"WItyh what? ..it?" The anxiety, panic, and depression?"
What I had stumbled upon in 1993 is now backed by science.
Current research tells us that trauma resides in the body and are emotions and reside in the subconscious mind, not the thinking brain. BINGO!
The Energy Psychology approaches I employ reduce stress, expand wellbeing, and create more ease in the body faster than tradition methods.
